This village sits just off
the A9 at the south west of the Cairngorms National Park. It is
dominated by the whisky distillery
by the same name. There are numerous mountains and tracks in
this vicinity with Loch Ericht's north eastern end is at
Dalwhinnie. Generally and aparet from the A9, the hills and
paths here are very remote.

distillery is a fantastic place to visit. The building itself is
iconic and the tour available is very interesting as you can
observe the whisky making process at every point.
If you are walking the
mountains immediately to the east, you can also see the canal
like water supply built to keep the mountain water coming to the
distillery.

There is a
road here from Dalwhinnie to Laggan, beautiful as this road is
with stunning views and scenery, it is a dangerous and
unpredictable road which is liable to ice even in the late
spring months of April and May.
This area is full of
wildlife and there are fantastic walks, some quite easy and
others a lot more challenging. Information about local walks is
