This is
quite a large town in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park
and an all year round centre for outdoor activities. Being on
rail and bus routes and also just off the main arterial road to
the north, it is easily accessible for everybody.
The town has many
accommodation providers, shops a garage, and a good selection of
places to dine out. The Cairngorm Mountain Centre is just a few
miles away where in winter there is a substantial skiing area
which is serviced by the mountain funicular railway. In the
summer months the funicular takes tourists to near the top of
Cairngorm mountain to a restaurant and view point.
Skiing in Scotland varies in quality from year to year. Some years snow can be patchy and on others quality skiing may be available from late November right through to May.
In some years there has been skiing on Mid
Summers day on the 22nd of June.
At all seasons of the year
there is hill walking and many other outdoor activities to be
had in this fantastic area for the great outdoors. There is of
course Skiing, cross country skiing, sled dog running, mountain
biking, sailing, kayaking, skating and much much more.

The Strathspey Steam
Railway runs from Aviemore to Boat of Garten. The sight of a
steam locomotive always attracts enthusiast from the very young
to the older members of the public. The Steam train season
starts from mid march to the end of October. See our Aviemore

There are numerous places
to visit and see within a short drive of Aviemore. Of course
some of them are in other villages which you will find on our
navigation menu.
The whole area is popular for families too as children are
rarely bored.
