The town of Aboyne is in
the approaches to the east side of the park a few miles before
the village of Dinnet which is just in side the boundary. The
town sits on the banks of the river Dee and is popular with
anglers.
At
the beginning of August every year the population of the
town grows dramatically for those visiting to see the
Highland Games take place on the town green.
There are many paths and tracks in the surrounding forest
which makes this beautiful area popular with walkers and
cyclist at all times of the year.

The relatively nearby Mount
Keen also attracts visitors to Aboyne as many hill walkers use
the town as a base to experience the local climbs.
