Pitlochry sits right on the
edge of the Park, just a couple of miles south of the south
western boundary. It is a beautiful town with great facilities
and many visitor attractions. It also has the road from it that
leads park visitors from West to East across the beautiful A924
allowing fairly easy access to Glenshee and Braemar, from the
western areas. Why Pitlochry is not actually in the National
Park is a mystery to many.
The
town is just off the A9 (Perth to Inverness) and has become
very popular since it had a bypass allowing visitors to
enjoy the town without enormous traffic volumes.
One
great attraction is the Fish Ladder at the local hydro dam
as well as the visitor centre at the dam itself, all just a
short walk from the centre of the town.
