Kirriemuir, Gateway to Cairngorms National Park

The town of Kirriemuir is to the south east of the park boundary but is the only town near the beautiful glens of the Clova area of the National Park. It is a great wee place in its own right with nice walks such as in Caddam Wood. It also provides accommodation and shops in its surrounding area for visitors to this part of the park.

There are many attractions in this general area including Kirriemuir Golf Club. Most visitors to the south east part of the Cairngorm National Park will pass through the town and many make use of the local facilities such as shops restaurants and more.

Kirriemuir's most famous native was of course J M Barrie. In the pavilion building in Kirriemuir you will find a 'camera obscura' which was donated by the author to the village and offers an interesting insight to the technology of the Victorian era.
