The eastern side of the
Cairngorms National Park includes Braemar and Royal Deeside.
This part of the park is not accessible from the west of the
park very easily as the Grampian Mountains lie between two and
there are no roads that link them other than travelling north
first or south.
This
part of the Cairngorms National Park is very different from
the west of the park although it would appear to have
similar attractions. It has a great river, the river Dee,
flowing through it, it has Skiing mountains at Glenshee and
at the Lecht. It also has nature reserves and a huge number
of tracks and paths to walk as well as hills to climb.
However, it has a quieter feel to it.
Braemar,
is probably the most well known of the towns due to the
proximity of Balmoral Castle. It certainly is quite busy most of
the year round due to tourists and winter sports enthusiasts.
